Organized Crime
Organized Crime is "the unlawful activities of the members of a highly organized, disciplined association engaged in supplying illegal goods and services, including but not limited to gambling, prostitution, loan sharking, narcotics, labor racketeering, and other unlawful activities of members of such organizations." There are many definitions for Organized Crime but no agency has been able to provide a single definition. Before Prohibition Organized Crime was mainly street gangs and extortionists, but when Prohibition went into effect in 1920 it gave rise to more sophisticated criminal groups who supplied illicit goods and were protecting there organization through murder.
